This was pretty much the epiphanic point of my life where I realized carpal tunnel syndrome was inevitable.

Featuring Colleen Brennan, one of my OCs from a story I'm writing :) She's one of my oldest OCs (circa 2003) and the one that I hold the most dear, at this point. I call the guys from this series my Ensemble. Also, she's the main protagonist... the "leader" of the Ensemble, per se.

Mostly, whenever people speak of Colleen, she's associated with "nice" and "quiet"; she is, to an extent. She's reserved most of the time, but under her placid nature lies very rich emotions, and a very sharp alertness and observancy. Colleen's ever-curious mind has her seeking knowledge, and her natural patience and resourcefulness ensures her own satisfaction. She's the first to pick up on others' emotions and (mostly) hurting. Colleen feels genuine sympathy for those who are in pain, and she does what she can to heal the scars over others' hearts.

Colleen is also the one who gathered the entire Ensemble through different means, and took them all under her wing. Underneath her "soft" outer personality lies a rock-hard conviction and irrepressible strength, but also instability and--often forgotten, purposefully or otherwise--sorrow. Colleen is prone to neglecting her own needs over others; she's filled with many, many rocky emotions that she often has to fight to control. But for all her inner instability, she's also filled with the same amount of love.

Leen has white gardenias, white being the theme to this series. Gardenias represent loveliness, secrecy, joy, luck and secret love. Gardenias are Colleen's favourite flowers... the meanings were actually not intended for her, which is why some of them don't match her personality. Ahahaha XD
But the "secret love" part might be right.

Your hard work has greatly paid off Miss Sorelliena, this piece stood out to me and quickly caught my attention when I looked through the deviations on my messages. :)

I noticed you've improved your anatomy skills shown in this piece but the head *slightly* appears too large, however what easily makes up for it is the amazing, realistic detail you put into the character's dress with just colored pencils, I haven't seen it done before!

The ribbons and skirt baffle me: the swaying on her right arm and body positioning gives me a slight impression that she is moving but the ribbons don't seem to express that, they're still?

I'm glad you put the effort in imbuing so much detail in the leaves, it shows you're willing to go the repetitive and even tedious way to create what you perhaps consider your best pieces. They detail in pretty much everything else around the character was well executed.

I'm gonna be honest here, this character intrigues and motives me to learn more able the Ensemble, since I'm now interested in the plot.

You've done a solid job on her expression on what she represents, she doesn't seem mysterious either, which I like. She sounds like a very motherly woman that anyone can respect and get attached to easily.

i thought this when i saw her in the pic you sent me via note-she's really, really beautiful :3
i love your description,it's going to help me portray her =D she's quite as i imagined her, strong but yet very delicate and maternal :3

aha the leaves are AWESOME and so are the flowers 8D you made a wonderful job (and you had lots of patience) drawing and coloring that plant X3

this also reminds me i still have to draw all my OCs in a picture >_> i'm scared of putting secondary characters too, they're too much and i've never drawn some of them XD

AHAHAHA Thank you for doing the sketch btw! And I hope I portrayed her well... it's always kind of hard to write about the main protagonist, amirite?

Pblhghdjsa patience, what patience? ;) I took so many cookie breaks between the leaves that I'm surprised they still look uniform, teehee :D

Hmm... I don't usually draw secondary characters, only main-main and kind-of-main, y'know? I mean, that "one guy who shows up for like, five chapters and then dies" doesn't make me think of drawing him, right? :P

ahah XD YOU MADE A GREAT WORK *w*

°___° you're-you're very rich of characters.i have lots of kind-of-main characters only in my latest stories,in the first one there were only main and very secondary characters.i was so mean with them-they appeared and then they disappeared so simply >_>

Disappearing characters! -poof-

NO LOL I'M KIDDING! 8D But yeah, I have a large expanse of characters. Ironically I use most of my characters in an interchangeable universe, like... In this story-manga (maybe X_X) I was planning, Lalé shows up for cameos very frequently, and in Colleen's story I'm pretty sure these dragon characters I have also get to show up once in a while, so do the vampires, etc. It's kind of fun to stick them in each other's territory AHAHA then they can all go on a picnic together >=3

aha yesh!XD you'll see while reading the Dark Angel...secondary characters were used to be scared of my main character and go away,or yell at him and trying to attack him...well,i guess the storyline needed it XD

aha sounds so much fun!8DDDDDD uwaah i should make some crossovers too:heart: but i guess all my main characters would make a huge fight and start punching and kicking around -___-
Steve was like a growling dog,Sliver is always very acid,Jawknore beats other people when he feels under pressure,Razel gets mad easily...and let's not include Raron,Keirt and the others loool XDDDDD

This is pretty, especially the hair and ribbons. Colleen's personality is complex and well thought out too, great job.

You're welcome.

You put a lot of thought into the character, so why I shouldn't I complement it.
