Sketchbook assignment 1. We were to draw three illustrations of hands/feet with one shaded, one contour, and one free choice. This one is the "free choice"

I've seen these kinds of pictures everywhere--the "coming to life" ones, and I've always wanted to draw one. Except I'd think that to make a drawing come to life... y'know, you have to add the biological aspect. All the veins, capilliaries, arteries... and not to mention the musculoskeletal system... it can't come to life without bones to support it 8) we'd then just end up with a glove of flesh.

This is to be handed in for grading next week. I'm all nervous, I hope I get a good mark... Edit: Got a 95%!!!11!!! YAYYY JFKD;AH lost marks because I only drew one hand and foot for the other two assignments... XD

Anyhow... I murdered a whole graphite pencil shading in that background. I missed my traditional mediums; it's gonna take me at least six months to get sick of them and switch back to digital :D

I feel like my hand anatomy is improving a lot due to these assignments. Don't worry, I drew feet too, so there's no "favouring" among my extremities, haha!

Thanks for looking! 8D

You really know how to work a pencil. Your lines are so sharp and neat. I can really see the value of your darkest darks and your highlights. I like the transition of the hand on the left, really nice.
Is there a way to add a little more value shadows to the hands, and pencil, just to make them pop more off the page.
It reminds me of one of M.C. Escher's drawings. I think that all the hands need is a little more colour to push it away from the paper. Other than that, I really like this composition. Good job <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
