After Silver and Yoshua's pictures, I realized I need to pay more attention to the flowers again X_X I think I slopped... so Aidan has the benefit of attention.
Featuring Aidan Chase, one of my OCs from a story I'm writing
He's one of my oldest, circa 2004.
I call the guys from this series my Ensemble.
If you've ever known someone who always has a too-real expression of a puppy that's been kicked too many times, it's probably Aidan. Aidan is an earnest boy, underweight and unfocused and too far gone into a reality of his own. He is too conscientous to hurt a fly, too insecure to ever ask for more than what is absolutely necessary, to draw attention to himself... a wallflower, so to speak. In reality, Aidan is just one of the sweetest people you could meet, always thinking about his friends, always willing to take the blame... It's a pity that Aidan has tried almost every single drug available on the market and is slowly obliterating himself.
Aidan has one of those auras that makes people feel obligated to just hold him and hope that he's okay. He has a personality that is largely addictive and from a bad incident in his childhood, became indefinitely hooked to substance abuse. This is one fact that secretly scares the lights out of the rest of the Ensemble. Slowly, slowly, they are trying to bring him back from the darkness he sank himself into, with love and kindness and even sarcasm on some of their parts. He craves love like there is an empty hole in his heart.
Aidan has white poppies, white being the theme to this series. Poppies represent sleep, dreams, memory, imagination and even delusion and oblivion. I figured they were fitting because opium was his first substance. And the meaning is just... perfect.
His colour theme is a soft blue-gray and brown. Aidan yearns for stability and reality, like the brown of earth, but he always drives himself into the blue-gray of his own oblivion. The ribbons constricting him and his half-hearted attempt at removing them also are hints to his personality.
Art wise:Ffff he has the best colour harmony. Aidan's eyes took many, many redraws as I drew the ribbons on too early, and couldn't figure out their proportioning properly. Even at this point I think they're off. But I DO love those veins in his hands.
It's hard for me to capture Aidan's expression right. He always has the perfect mix of sadness and vulnerability and hoping...
